Washington Head Coach Takes Responsibility for Keeping Jayden Daniels in Contest Prior to Serious Injury

The Commanders leader Coach Quinn has admitted he shares a portion of the blame for a major injury to the team’s quarterback, Jayden Daniels.

Details of the Injury and Situation

Jayden Daniels, who enjoyed one of the greatest first-year performances of all time last season, sustained a dislocated left elbow in Sunday’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Even though the quarterback passes with his dominant arm, the injury has left his season uncertain. The injury was serious enough that the television broadcast did not show replays and multiple players turned away as Daniels was attended to by medical staff.

Criticism and Coach’s Reaction

Coach Quinn came under scrutiny as numerous felt the rookie should not have been on the playing surface to begin with. The injury happened in the final period with the Washington behind 38-7, rendering a comeback improbable. It is typical in such situations for clubs to insert their reserve QB to prevent injuries to their first-string player.

“I get that. I’ve been thinking about it constantly, too, and, wow, I missed it,” Quinn remarked of his decision to leave Jayden in the game. “This is 100% on me.”

Aftermath and Squad Outlook

Mariota will be the Commanders’ starting quarterback from now on, but he will lead a roster in disarray. Following making the NFC championship game last season behind Daniels’s brilliance, the franchise have faced difficulties currently. They also lost cornerback Marshon Lattimore (torn ACL) and pass-catcher Luke McCaffrey (broken collarbone) on game day, and have a number of other key players on injured reserve. The Commanders are three wins and six losses so far, and it would take a massive reversal for the club to make the playoffs.
